Plant Treatments
There is always an extensive range of fertilizers, insecticides, weed killers and other plant treatments in our garden shop. We stock products from trusted manufacturers such as Scotts Miracle-Gro, Bayer and Westland. Our staff will be pleased to help and advise on any specific plant problem..
Tools
Our range covers traditional garden tools from major manufacturers such as Wilkinson Word, Felco and Draper Tools. Look out for range of Wolf Garden ‘multi-change’ tools. These have been produced with gardeners in mind as they are well designed, innovative and versatile. There is a choice of tool handles and a variety of tool heads that securely clip together to suit whatever job you’re doing.
Watering
We always have a good selection of watering equipment in stock, whether it’s hose pipes, sprinklers or complete irrigation systems. The Gardena micro-irrigation system is the most efficient way to water your garden especially pots and containers. With a water supply and a special timer, you can water a couple of hanging baskets to a complete garden whenever you want and it’s ideal if you’re going away on holiday.
Saving water is another way of preparing for the summer. Water butts will capture valuable rain water, which is much better for plants than tap water. We stock lots of watering and water-saving equipment and devices including rain traps, water gel, watering gadgets and, of course, watering cans.
Seeds and Bulbs
Growing plants from seeds can be very rewarding and our main supplier is Unwin’s Seeds. The quality and range of their flower and vegetable seeds is excellent, in both popular and unusual varieties. In addition, we also stock Franchi Italian vegetable seeds. Their selection includes unusual tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins to name but a few.
Spring flowering bulbs are usually available from the garden centre from late August onwards and include old-favourites such as daffodils, crocus, tulips and hyacinths as well as the sought after unusual Alliums, Fritillarias and Cammasia.
Summer Flowering Bulbs are in stock from February onwards and our selection includes Begonias, Dahlias, Gladioli and much more.
Compost
At Blackbrooks Garden Centre, we stock Levington as our main brand of specialist compost. The range includes seed & cutting, hanging basket, multi-purpose & soil conditioning compost. We stock peat-free compost from New Horizon and topsoil and manure from J Arthur Bowers. Our prices on compost are very competitive and we have promotions and multi-buys throughout the year.
Turf and Topsoil
Our turf is grown on the very best sandy-loam soil. The grass varieties used are the very best available so that the turf produced is dense and hardwearing, deep green in colour, and disease and drought resistant. The availability of turf varies according to the time of the year and it would be advisable to phone or email the garden centre to check on this prior to travelling.
Our topsoil is ideal for use under turf, spreading on borders or filling raised beds.
Stone Chippings, Paving and Fencing
If you’re thinking of laying a new patio, building a rockery or putting up a new fence, come and see the choice of materials at Blackbrooks Garden Centre. In our landscaping area, you’ll find fencing, trellis, paving, stone chippings and rockery stone. Our helpful staff are available to offer advice and you can have everything delivered to your door quickly and efficiently.
